Morton’s rolls out crab, lobster and beef special

January 21st, 2008 by steve · No Comments

If you’ve ever watched the show, “Deadliest Catch,” on Discovery Channel, you have a greater appreciation for the effort it takes to haul Alaskan king crab from the frigid ocean depths to your dinner table.

Whether that makes you scramble to Morton’s The Steakhouse for its annual surf and turf special is another matter. But at least VilleVoice Eats is here to let you know it has come ashore and at a good price.

Through March 31, diners can get a filet mignon (with sauce béarnaise and steamed asparagus) and a choice of two Alaskan king crab legs or an Australian lobster tail (both served with drawn butter), along with a choice for house or Caesar Salad for $69.

If you’re not familiar with Australian lobster, know that it’s fairly different from a Maine lobster. Those unfortunate crustaceans plucked from our Northeastern waters bear large claws, a large tail and the sweetest of all seafood meats. Quite different, though equally ugly, is the West Australian lobster, which bears meatless fore-spines but large tails which are quite good. And though they lack the Maine’s sweetness, they still have that earthy-rich ocean flavor.

Call 584-0421 for reservations.
