Steve Coomes is a Louisville native who got his first restaurant job at age 15 busing tables at the famed Casa Grisanti. For eight years he cooked in some of the city’s finest kitchens, including a six-year stint at Sixth Avenue Restaurant. In 1991, he began his food-and-restaurant writing career as a weekly columnist for the Voice Tribune, and later, restaurant writer for LEO Weekly. He also has been a longtime Louisville Magazine contributing writer. Steve has written for and edited dozens of restaurant and foodservice trade publications, including Louisville-based Pizza Today magazine and PizzaMarketplace.com, a webzine. An avid cook, Steve opened a personal chef service, Chef at Your Door, in 2007. He and wife Leslie entertain often at their Goshen home, which they share with son Kyle.
