An order you won’t hear at the July 25-27 Forecastle Festival: “Two corn dogs, cheesy fries and a funnel cake, please.”

That’s because the three-day event featuring music, art and activism has worked out a deal to serve locally raised produce and meats, thanks to a partnership with Slow Foods Bluegrass. Sandy Nixon of fb3, a local food and beverage manufacturing incubator, will oversee the spread with help from the Community Farm Alliance.

You’ll be able to get grilled meats such as Kentucky Bison bratwurst or all-natural burgers from Green River Cattle Company. In the Terra Madre Cafe, guests can sample international dishes such as Asian style noodles and grilled quesadillas.

The keynote speaker for the event is Robert F. Kennedy. Jr. who will no doubt be pleased with the menu. Bands include the Disco Biscuits and the Del Coury Band.

Here’s the skinny on tickets: On sale through TicketWeb, Ticketmaster, and select regional outlets in participating cities including ear X-tacy Records in Louisville, CD Central in Lexington, Euclid Records in St. Louis, Grimey’s in Nashville, Indy CD & Vinyl in Indianapolis, Landlocked Records in Bloomington, and Shake-It Records in Cincinnati. Advanced tickets range from $15 – 20 per day, day of show tickets range from $18 – 23. Two-day and three-day passes also available, as well as a limited number of VIP passes.
