I’m going to give you more details, but the words of my 10-year-old best summarized our experience at the new Incredible Dave’s restaurant/playground concept on Westport Road: “You don’t really expect the food to be any good at a place like this. It’s just about the games, and I like the games.”
Still, I had reason […]

According to its Web site, Incredible Dave’s is part restaurant (serving pizza, steaks, salads and sandwiches), part fun center […]

January 21st, 2008 · No Comments
The Courier-Journal recently reported both Seviche locations (1538 Bardstown Road and 2929 Goose Creek Road) will close on Sundays through the end of April. Maybe that’s a hint as to when the Bardstown Road site’s patio will reopen (fingers crossed!)

Debt woes have Max & Erma’s maxed out
January 17th, 2008 · No Comments
It appears Max & Erma’s, a chain of cozy neighborhood cafes, is in a financial bind. As trade journalist David Farkas writes, the chain’s primary creditor, National City Bank, doesn’t like the way Max and Erma are balancing their checkbook, and the NASDAQ stock exchange is threatening to delist their company because its market value […]

Yet despite the killer cuisine Chef Anthony Lamas is serving at the new Seviche on Goose Creek Road, the former Hungry Pelican Restaurant just doesn’t have the same vibe. […]

In talking to Tony Palombino over the past several months about his new BoomBozz Bistro, I expected a lot as the Dec. 4 pre-opening party drew near. I knew it would have a full bar, full table service and an expanded menu including pastas and desserts. He said the outdoor sign would be an eye […]

Papa’s got a brand-new bread: Calistoga Bakery Café
November 30th, 2007 · No Comments
John Schnatter may have turned over the reins to Papa John’s two years ago to Nigel Travis, but anyone who knows the Jeffersonville native knew it wouldn’t be long before he’d be involved in another restaurant concept.
Several months ago, Schnatter bought a minority slice of Calistoga Bakery Café, a fast-casual concept based in Naples, Fla., […]

Corbett’s, a Chef’s Fantasy, to open Dec. 15
November 30th, 2007 · No Comments
When Chef Dean Corbett bought Equus Restaurant in 1985, it was a second-hand purchase of someone else’s ailing restaurant. After opening Jack’s Lounge 15 years later, it was a much more casual option to his multiple-award-winning restaurant next door and a tribute to his father.
But the new Corbett’s, according to the man himself, is all […]

That’s ‘Beery’ Clever Marketing
November 29th, 2007 · No Comments
Passing through the Kroger store across from the Summit recently, I spied a rack of bottled beers bearing an invitation to customers to custom mix and match their own six packs.
On the rack were three beer brands (but four different beers—Goose Island Christmas Ale and Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat, Red Hook and Widmer) and […]
